Positive contributions here should be enough reason for leniency, especially since we don't want to scare such people away (cf. the Minhyong Kim thread or the VA thread on meta).

I think this question is excellent, and I have been reading it religiously since it was asked, however, it appears that it is getting very discussiony. Much argument is happening in the comments of the question and underneath nearly all of the answers. I thought we were trying to discourage this sort of inter-locution.
