I forgot that MediaWiki lets you reference an image by way of its documentation page, but most other external sites need a direct link to the current version of the image.

Instead, it serves up an HTML document with data about the image, and also containing a link to the actual image.

I tried including one of the images on one of my web pages and got the same problem.
