Ah! I used think that closing homework questions - that people were ignoring anyway - was a waste of time. I guess I now understand why you actually have to close them.

Some questions seem to float up the main list at regular intervals, despite there seeming to be no actual activity on them. They often seem to be associated with (an automatic??) user of the name ...
For example: http://mathoverflow.net/questions/946/operator-valued-weights This doesn't seem to have had any activity since last year, but it's again on the main screen today.
