You can also explicitly upload an image if there's one you particularly like.
I thought of doing so once, but I didn't particularly care for this section of the gravatar.com terms of service:
More specifically, you hereby do and shall grant to Automattic a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free and fully-paid, transferable (including rights to sublicense) right to perform the Services (e.g., to use, modify, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, perform, and otherwise fully exercise and exploit all intellectual property, publicity, and moral rights with respect to any User Submissions, and to allow others to do so).
Maybe I'm being anal about such a small thing, but no thanks.
]]>The moderators can see your e-mail address regardless of whether or not you put it in the box (because your openid is through google and uses your e-mail address).
This is only true if you can "see" my email address in the OpenID "https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id?id=aitoawmp3gge-4j4xtk7hj0w1fsb5iaumlby8ua"
I'm not sure about >10000 rep users though.
No. Only ♦ moderators can see the email address field, and there are only five of them. 10k+ users don't get to see anything in user profiles that isn't shown to everybody else too.
]]>The email address is specified in the userpage. I do not know whether you will get the old identicon back if you change back your email address; but I suspect that you will indeed get it back.
]]>Right now I'm working from home (one of the above 3 locations), and I haven't replaced my ISP for years.
]]>Oh, I did make one change: I replaced the email address for notification of answers. But I'm still using the same account for my OpenID.
Can this be fixed?
Thanks in advance!
