There is some mathoverflow discussion happening on wave, but it's been mostly replaced by meta. That said, if anyone wants invites or links to the existing waves, let me know.

I'm pretty amenable to this idea -- I'll join that channel in a moment.

Two big questions:

How familar are mathematicians with IRC?
- I suspect the answer is "very little".
How would this be formally associated to MO?
- If it proves useful amongst the "meta crowd", then I'd suggest adding a link along the topbar at MO, next to meta.

I'm not at all familiar with IRC, but I have no objection to such a thing. I think I've successfully started a channel, though I feel like my client (kopete) is making things more confusing for me by trying to make them easy. Please let me know if there's something else I need to do.
