In my opinion ... there are no comments explaining why it should be closed. In my opinion it is a legitimate math history question which generated a lot of
interesting answers. I don't know any single place where one could easily find this information. Most of it was new to me. But maybe it's
just my idiosyncratic bias towards math history.
