I think we've agreed in the past that as long as people have a use for them, highly specific tags are fine.

I'm in favor of [g2] as well; in practice people often talk much more concretely about G2 than the other exceptionals.

However, I think that a more interesting/relevant tag could be "octonionic-geometry" or something like that. In that case, while the above question doesn't really fit, all of the following questions do fit into "octonionic-geometry":

http://mathoverflow.net/questions/1922/what-is-the-cayley-projective-plane

http://mathoverflow.net/questions/1973/is-there-a-complex-structure-on-the-6-sphere

http://mathoverflow.net/questions/49357/g-2-and-geometry

http://mathoverflow.net/questions/51157/analogues-of-cayley-plane-as-homogenous-spaces

http://mathoverflow.net/questions/16048/is-there-a-name-for-this-algebraic-structure

(I plan to ask more questions related to octonionic geometry in the future, so I would certainly make good use of such a tag. ]]>

The easiest thing might be to use the google search site:http://mathoverflow.net G_2

I feel like the [exceptional-groups] tag would be better than a tag like [g-2], even if the question is about a specific exceptional group. I can imagine somebody following the [exceptional-groups] tag, but it's hard for me to imagine somebody following [g-2] without also following [exceptional-groups].

Can you think of a way to search for the relevant question/answers so that I can then tag them with a "g2" tag?

(There is an "exceptional-groups" tag, not used a lot...)
