@voloch: Only that I feel like I have a fairly good grasp of language within US, and not in, say, Italy. I make no claims either way as to any other society, although if I had to bed I'd guess that most are about as bad as we are, some slightly more and some slightly less.

Avoiding expressions that can hurt or offend others is certainly imperative in a public forum like this one. I don't know if mental illness language is more prevalent in American society than anywhere else, and I don't intend to start in a debate on this.

@Angelo, Thank you. Mental illness language is extremely prevalent in American society, IMHO problematically so. So I also hope that my comment will remind others not to use it. If you like, we can edit this thread a bit just to leave a general reminder.

Angelo, it is not entirely about political correctness or about manners, although those are also good things to bear in mind. The trouble is that any person posting or reading on MO may well also read the comments about him, or her, here on Meta. Indeed, we deliberately announce at the original question when there is a discussion about it on Meta. Then, that person may post on Meta, and sometimes wars are started.

(Edited) Just a general reminder: please refrain from calling people mentally ill, at least publicly? There are a lot of issues surrounding "mental illness" language, and most I'm not sufficiently expert to explain or argue about. But I know extremely capable people for whom the moniker "mentally ill" is often applied, and I think the safest thing is (at least) not to use it as a casual insult.

I'm pretty sure that if enough people flag a question as "spam", it gets deleted. That seems to best way to instantly delete things.

nb : The question mentioned at the top of the thread has 3 spam flags so far. Just a couple more...

I know we can't change the software... but if someday we can, we should be able to delete some questions faster! Closing http://mathoverflow.net/questions/81609/ was not strong enough :/
