@jbl: Yes, once you have enough reputation to vote (3000) you can see the number of votes already cast.

I don't know if the votes were already there when I made my suggestion (I guess one can only see votes in progress when one already has enough reputation to vote?) but the revised question seems worth re-opening to me, hence the suggestion.

I think the question is now much better and admits more well-defined "good answers". Casting the 5th vote to re-open... now!

The question Examples of theorems arising from many authors' work by Colin Reid has been rewritten (actually its title has been rewritten too). To me, the question seems fine now, and there are currently four votes to reopen (including mine). JBL suggested that a meta-thread be set up to discuss the appropriateness of the revised question, and I am that meta-thread.
