I don't see why not. There's no need to save space on MO; starting a new question focuses the discussion, and you can still link the two questions to each other.

For this question http://mathoverflow.net/questions/56887/rigidity-of-the-category-of-schemes it would be very good to know if the property "quasicompact" can be characterized categorically in the category of schemes. I've already mentioned this question here. Now I wonder if it is appropriate if I start a new question which focuses on that?
