    Hello,

I just added a (small) bounty to one of my questions (http://mathoverflow.net/questions/96983/almost-bipartite-nearly-isolated-subgraphs). Now, I was under the impression that doing so would pop it up in the chronological list of questions. This didn't happen, so I edited it, but nothing happened - it's still buried deep below.

Since the whole point of adding a bounty was to get more attention more the question, I wonder: how to get it to the top of the list, for a while?

    What am I missing?

    Thanks!

It is now on the "featured questions" list (the second tab), and the edit also seems to have moved it up in the list of active questions.

But not on the 'newest' list. Does this mean that edits do not affect the order of the 'newest' list?
  3.

for me, you question is number 6 in "Active", "Recent Questions". I do not see anything called "Newest"...

OK now I found "Newest". I never use that. It seems these are ordered by when the question was asked, and later activity does not change that.

I only use 'newest' because on the relatively small laptop screen I am using most of the time, 'active' is not visible at all, being the rightmost button. I only found out about 'active's existence recently.

So, is 'newest' sort order being independent of edits a bug or a feature?

Clearly a feature. Active is for things that are still active (have new edits, answers, etc.). Newest is for, well, newest.

Felix: Your statement about active being the rightmost button confused me for a moment. You must be viewing via the "questions" link (http://mathoverflow.net/questions) rather than the main page (http://mathoverflow.net/) which has active as the leftmost tab, featured next, and all tabs are further left than on the questions page.
