    Not that I'm complaining, but I was just awarded the Mortarboard badge despite not having gained any reputation in the last 24 hours (in fact, I made a downvote so my reputation went down, not up). Moreover, the "Recent Badges" column indicates that the mortarboard badge has just been awarded to at least 14 other users.

    It was added in the recent system upgrade, and awarded retroactively to a bunch of people.
