    This is regarding question 26703. In my opinion, this question is borderline defamatory...

    Edit: The poster has since removed the author name of the paper. He has also changed the title to "Problem with result on symmetric functions."

    It appears that Bruce has since reworded the question, and I believe that it's now an appropriate question.

    There's a self-contained question, and no particular poor implication towards the author. It's commonplace to not understand a lemma in a paper (for various reasons!) and Bruce has in this revision identified the particular mathematical point of concern.

    I agree with Scott that it's much better now. At this point I would vote to reopen the question if it were closed.

    For what it's worth, I think the question as it stands now is absolutely fine.

    The question has been corrected and it is fine now. It would be nice to have good way to record this as an example of a fixed issue.

    I agree with Deane Yang (in the comments) that one should probably try to contact the author first before posting a question like that on MO.
