Says it all, really! If you think that such a site would be useful, you can commit to it to help it come into existence.
If you want to do that, you can either click here, which would mean that your commitment got noted as being referred by me. Or if you don't want to associate yourself with me in any way whatsoever, you can go here.
What do think they use the referral information for? I'll commit, saying I was referred by Andrew, on the assumption that it makes Andrew's commitment more weighty later on or benefits his area51 account it some other way.
@Charles: the ask/vote-on example questions phase is over for this proposal. Now you can't ask or vote on questions; you can only commit to the site. Once the beta starts, you probably won't be able to commit (then again, why would you want to?). If you want to find sites where you can still propose sample questions, check out some of the other ones, like http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/6427/extreme-sports.
Also, a feeling of awesomeness. I don't care about the rep on Area51, but I really like knowing that 24 people followed the link from SBS within a few hours of me posting.
@Ben: it's quality that matters, not quantity. I (apparently) referred Scott and Anton and the mighty fpqc.
=D!
(What does "HT" at the end of the SBS post mean?)
TeX/LaTeX has just reached 100% commitment so will be going private beta soon. Thanks to Noah Snyder, I've found out that non-participants can still follow along on the discussions (and on the meta discussions) via http://stackmobile.com/
