I'm a mathematician and a regular user of StackOverflow and just found MathOverlow. I'm interested in the more mathematical questions that have to do with programming (e.g. algorithms, matlab, numerics, latex etc.), and I think the overlap in users might be substantial. Probably it would be nice to be able to associate MathOverflow and StackOverflow accounts. Maybe it is also nice to couple even a bit stronger (e.g. being able to transfer questions from one to the other).

I have a vague memory of this being requested on meta.stackexchange.com but I can't find it in a quick search. This would probably be something that would need to be done at the SE level so I recommend having a look there to see if there's a similar feature request (and if not, make one).

I couldn't find it either, especially the part about moving questions, so I posted a feature-request on Meta.SE.

Here's a relevant meta.SE post. I can't really see much of an argument for account association or question migration between SO and MO. The users probably overlap very little, and it's very fast to fill out the account information. If account association were implemented, I'd opt in, but I'm not really pushing for it. If question migration were implemented, I would not opt in because I don't trust SO users to know what questions belong on MO.

@Anton, in my proposal that was to be done by a person with high enough reputation on MO to be able to post/edit/close questions — or perhaps even only by a moderator. If that's not sufficiently clear from my Meta.SE post, how should I edit it?
