    To me the [teaching] and [mathematics-education] tags are synonymous. Is this the same for others? Should the two tags be merged? (And if so, which one should we keep?)

    I think we've had a discussion about this in the past. [mathematics-education] can refer to questions from either the teacher's side or from the student's side (or even from the side of whoever decides the curriculum), but [teaching] is more specific.
