    Hey guys,

I gathered from a previous post that Math Overflow is in no rush to switch over to the Stack Exchange 2.0 platform, but can anyone comment on plans for at least implementing the Stack Exchange API that is part of that release? There are a lot of really great applications being built on top of that API that work on pretty much every SE site out there except for Math Overflow, and it's a real pity. I'm sure a lot of the users here would find them very useful.

Is there any plans, now or in the future, to update Math Overflow's software in this way, or is it essentially a fork at this point that will never merge with upstream?

    Thanks, Adrian

This would have to be done by the SE team as they control the underlying software. I suspect that they're not really devoting much attention to the SE1.0 software right now.

apetresc- At the moment, the site is in a sort of weird StackExchange limbo, where it's not clear on what terms we'll be able to migrate to SE 2.0; hence, it's not clear whether those terms will be acceptable to us. So at the moment, there are no plans, which is not to be confused with planning not to switch. At the moment, I think I (and I think I can speak for the rest of the moderators in this) are basically happy to not be having the arguments that are sure to arise when we start talking about migrating.

For a site which clearly is much more successful than the run-of-the-mill SE1.0 sites, do you not think the StackExchange folks would be willing to let you have the SE2.0 software on SE1.0 "terms"? Without having to go through all the Area51 jazz, etc.

Adrian, did you read this thread?
