    Hi all,

Has anyone else experienced the following bug? When I click on the TAGS link, and pick one of the tags, sometimes (and seemingly at random times) it will display no questions at all (and sometimes, more bizarrely, just one or two questions.) Then at other random times, clicking on the same tag will show all of the (hundreds) of questions with that tag.

If it helps, I use a Mac with Safari 5.0.2

    ?!?!

Is it possible that there are two very similar tags and you clicked the small one once and the big one the other time?

  2.
No. I almost always click on the same tag: dg.differential-geometry and sometimes I get all 500+ questions, sometimes none, and sometimes 3 or 4 questions. I tried with other tags too, just to see what happens, and it was a similar thing. I am mystified. I don't know if it's a Safari-specific bug.

When you click on the tag, are you only doing so from the full tags list? Or are you sometimes clicking on the tags from the side bar on the right? If the latter, are you clicking on the "Related Tags" list? If so, please note that the "Related Tags" list is a refinement: it displays the intersection of the current list of tags with the newly clicked one. So if you have, say, [ag.algebraic-geometry] currently and then click on [ap.analysis-pdes], you will end up with a small collection that is tagged both.

(This is just a completely random guess; if it doesn't apply, then you may have found a bug. But I cannot reproduce it on Firefox.)

Willie: no, I am clicking from the full tags list. I know about the related tags being a refinement. It's really a bizarre bug. I was finally prompted to mention it here on meta when it happened to me again this morning, but since then every single time I tried to reproduce it so far today has failed. I am indeed baffled.

This happened to me today. It turned out that clicking on the tag was taking me to the "featured" tab under that tag rather than the "newest" tab. I'm not sure how it decides which tab to show you.

Anton and Spiro, don't be upset. This happens to all men at some point in their lives. It means you need a little vacation, reduce stress in other ways, get your self-confidence back. Nothing to worry about. It's just nature's way of saying that stressful times are not the best times to reproduce.

@ Anton: Thanks. Now I see what is happening (although like you, I don't know why.) As least now I know that I can just click on "Newest" and see all the questions with that tag.

@ Will: Funnily enough, I started experiencing this problem around exactly the same time that I successfully reproduced. (She's 2 months now... hopefully will be a geometer one day...)

Ah, that explains a lot, thanks.
