As MO becomes more popular, it is clear that it will become easier to earn reputation points.
Corollary: The number of users with at least 3000 reputation points will eventually be infinite.
So, I was wondering if it makes sense to eventually increase the number of votes required to close/reopen a question. This would nullify needless close/reopen tug-o-wars.
Tony- This goes in the "nice to think about, not technically possible at the moment" pile. The best thing you can do is find the request for this (which I'm sure exists) on meta.SE and vote it up.
I think you made an error in deducing your corollary.
Close/reopen tug-o-wars are mitigated by the fact that you can only vote to close/reopen a question once. Also, quickly looking at Stack Overflow, which is a couple of orders of magnitude more active than MO, it doesn't look like questions get more views, even though there are more questions.
Thanks Ben and Anton. I will go to meta.SE and vote it up. The larger question at hand is how scalable the site is. For example, some parameters (I'm not sure which ones) may need to be adjusted as MO expands. I was basically wondering if the magic robots somehow took care of this automatically.
