How hard would it be to set up versions of Mathoverflow and meta.Mathoverflow that work over https? I know less than I ought to about computer security (but I think more than the average netizen). The impression I have is that for any website where I log in (especially anything that keeps track of me by cookies --- and mathoverflow uses cookies heavily to provide its functionality) I should prefer https / SSL connections. The point is that cookies often have enough information to steal account information, and and generally broadcast completely in the clear.

It's not a huge deal for me. When I'm at home I'm on a secure network. When I'm at an airport, I can set up a full SSL tunnel through Berkeley's library. (On the other hand, I think when I'm on campus I'm using an insecure network; maybe I should just run the tunnel everywhere by default.) Still, "https://secure.mathoverflow.net/" would be awesome.

This isn't anything we can address directly, but it's worth discussing. See also the relevant meta.SO thread.
