    For some reason, searching http://mathoverflow.net/users/ never turns up http://mathoverflow.net/users/1905/walkthedog . I've tried searching for "walk", "dog" and the full string "walkthedog". Other users, such as "rita the dog" and "Kevin Walker" do turn up during these searches. Other users with comparably low rep can also be found by the search engine, such as

    http://mathoverflow.net/users/1559/andy-lana

    I was going to file a bug report over at meta.SE, but I figured I'd ask first if anyone knows why walkthedog has been consigned to the outer darkness, where he so definitely belongs.

    The problem is that walkthedog's display name is empty, and the user search is based entirely on display name. The name "walkthedog" appears to be automatically generated from the OpenID the user used to register.

    I think it's worth posting a bug report at meta.SE pointing out the weird fact that it's possible to have an empty display name in this way.
