    This question gives evil red text about bad math processing. I took a look at the LaTeX and don't see anything obviously wrong. Since MathJax preview has been broken since forever on my NetBook, if I were to proceed by trial and error I would be bumping the question all over the place. Can someone else take a look at it?

    Thanks.

    Also, is it possible to change MathJax settings on MO to be like on MSE such that errors don't completely crap out the parser? Seeing the broken code I can at least parse it in my head; seeing a red error box is much less helpful.

    I'd be glad to help, but I do not see any of the red text at my end.

  2.

    Similarly, for me MathJax doesn't seem to attempt to render anything on the page.

    Eh? So everything parsed correctly for you? That's odd. There is a displayed math line after the first paragraph, after the words "suppose"...

    EDIT: It was apparently on my end. Cleared the local cache and now everything renders. But now I am running into the same problem with bad fonts and slow rendering reported on the other thread.

    Like José, I don't see any red text. Everything renders correctly.

    @Willie: the settings on MO are already like that. The red text you see should be the erroneous LaTeX, not an error box.

    @Anton: mea culpa.

    But now I am running into the same problem with bad fonts and slow rendering reported on the other thread.

    Do you have the same problem on math.SE?

    Right now: no. At the moment MO is using image fonts, but Math.SE is using, well, whatever the other option is.

    EDIT: Installing the STIX fonts, as you suggested on the other thread, fixed the problem with the image fonts.
