    I guess it's just me, but I was wondering why http://mathoverflow.net/questions/49946/principal-curvatures-and-curvature-directions is being treated as an MO-worthy question.

    Hum, I seemed to have had a lapse of judgement there. It was possibly induced by having both MO and MSE open at the same time. My apologies for inadvertently "approving" that question by providing an answer. Upon re-reading that question really doesn't belong on MO. (I've deleted my answer.)

    Edit: incidentally, reading the list of Badges, it is somewhat ironic that I may earn the Disciplined badge for my lapse of judgement...
