Some readers may be interested in this meta question over at Quora.

btw --- a while ago one of the Quora folks asked us to consider migrating to their platform. Feel free to derail this thread with your opinions on the pros and cons of their software vs ours. (We turned them down, by the way.)

Following the link one finds that the number of users is measured as the number of accounts with rep strictly greater than one.

Purely out of couriosity: are there any numbers on the activity of accounts?
Say, how many accounts are there that login at least once a week; or, perhaps simpler, how many distinct accounts did login during last week?

The most reliable measurements can be gleaned from the dumps, which contain actual input and (except for things like visit count) no information about lurkers. Anton has been willing to grep information in the past from them. If Anton asks, I am willing to write some meta-grep or meta-awk tools to grab and process some of the info (meaning I will write the basic code using my idea of how the data should be organized, but someone else will have to wire it up with the correct field names and place the appropriate interpretation on the data).
